Connecting Educators Across Region 6

Spanning six counties, Region 6 of the Idaho Council of Teachers of Mathematics supports educators and serves students in the following counties: Bonneville, Clark, Fremont, Jefferson, Madison, and Teton.

Region 6 encompasses a large and diverse area of southeastern Idaho. To ensure accessibility for our members, we host meetings throughout the region, including Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Blackfoot, and Driggs.

No matter your role in education, our goal is to bring mathematics educators together to collaborate, network, share ideas, and support one another. Through these connections, we strive to strengthen mathematics education across our region and promote excellence in teaching and learning for all students.

Meet the Reps

Regional representatives coordinate and organize ICTM activities, such as meet-ups and conferences, within their regions. Jenn Doeberl and Theresa Lentz are here to support Region 6 board members.

Region Highlights

This past year, Region 6 hosted several collaborative professional learning meetups that brought educators together from across southeastern Idaho to learn, share, and grow.

One of our highlights was a three-part series focused on demystifying the ISATs for educators in grades 3–12:

  • ISAT Design, Structure, and Teacher Resources
  • Interim Assessment Data Analysis and Making Data Meaningful
  • Summative Assessment Review: Celebrations and Goal Setting

We also hosted a three-part K–2 Math Milestones Series that explored:

  • An overview of Math Milestones resources and the underlying beliefs and theories that support them
  • Asset-based analysis of student learning through Math Milestones
  • Reflections on student learning, student-centered instructional practices, and next steps for instruction

These meetups fostered meaningful conversations among educators and highlighted the power of collaboration. Participants explored how assessment data can be used not simply for accountability, but as a tool to refine instructional systems, celebrate student growth, and make informed decisions that support learning. Together, educators deepened their understanding of data analysis and discovered practical ways to use assessment information to better serve students.

The enthusiasm, engagement, and willingness of members to share their experiences made these sessions a valuable learning opportunity for all involved and reinforced the strength of the mathematics education community within Region 6.

Data should drive the instruction, not just the conversation. Data should inform how to teach next, not just what students got wrong.

Dwight S. Williams

The learning doesn't stop here! Stay tuned for details about our next regional math meet-up, where educators from across Region 6 will once again come together to collaborate, learn, and support one another in strengthening mathematics instruction for all students.

Idaho Regional Mathematics Center

The Idaho Regional Mathematics Centers (RMC) are housed within the colleges of education at each of Idaho’s four-year institutions of higher education. Regional Math Center staff work collaboratively with the Idaho Department of Education to provide the best possible support for mathematics education in each region.

The Idaho State RMC is one of four Idaho Regional Mathematics Centers formed in partnerships among the Idaho State Department of Education and Idaho's Institutions of Higher Education to provide deep, sustained, and effective mathematics professional development for educators in Idaho.
